Removing the water pump on the other hand is simple. All you have to do is locate it on the outbaord engine by checking the repair manual and undoing the exterior bolts that join the pump to the housing. By heating it with an oxyacetylane torch, you can remove the linkage and cut off the parting line. Locate and take away the brass pins the instant this is detached. To reassemble the water pump, just reverse the procedure.
Inspect hoses and gaskets around the outboard for cracks, tears, and pinholes every few months. It's advisable to replace them every season or two to keep the outboard running smoothly and efficiently and to prevent gas leaks.
