3 Needs for the Red Kerosene Lantern

I have always been a little curious about  the common red kerosene lantern, which in many instances are hung from a variety of places like the garage or barn door. This type of mental flash would come and go with me at the strangest times notably on the highway like the other travelers around the peak hours of rush hour. Must be some sort of relaxing karma for me,well it works. Most recently while on vacation driving along that rural country road in all probably day dreaming,we all know what that is all about don't we. When all of sudden up pops a sign on the side of road you know "Yard-Sale" . I think most of us guys,ladies would just ignore the possibility of stopping and spending money on sum unnecessary item which in all probability would be thrown away in some point of time anyway. Well you got it,I stopped do you know why?  the farm house was painted Red. It was just like a magnet,ten feet from the car when I saw it,the red kerosene lantern of course destiny. Nothing but the best for the author,well it was dirty from use,the glass was cracked,the price $ 5.00.I was excited couldn't wait to bring it home for a better evaluation of my purchase. Now it is turning into a little investment and curiosity got the best of me,need to know more about the origin. For instance there are three states which have the highest priorities for the Red Kerosene Lantern and they are,Alaska,Massachusetts and New York. The three needs are for ,camping,serious back packing and weather notably very inclement weather. I don't really known why the color red is so popular other than it is easier to see when in need.

The most Hazardous Fuels not to use for burning fuel in your favorite red lantern are the following; Gasoline,Naphtha,Rubbing Alcohol,Caster Oil,Minineral Spirits as in Paint Thinner.
