At work there is always challenges to be dealt with. Unfortunately, one of the things that stops us is the fear that we will not be successful in doing a particular task. Now there may be a variety of reasons for this but the fear of embarking on something which is going to lead to failure is often a powerful motivator for us to not even start. This kills your productivity. Think back to your own experience and ask if this is ever happened to you, most importantly how did you cope? This article explains some of the steps we can take to overcome our fear of failure that puts limits on our productivity.

Often, we don't start a task because we are certain that we are going to fail. The way of dealing with this particular problem is to understand not only the task in front of you but also the fears about it. When you understand these two things you are in a position to deal with them. The first issue to address, is to ask yourself do you know what you're trying to accomplish, and why it is important? When you know the answer to this question you are well on the way of beating procrastination and low productivity caused by fear.

Look at the task at hand and thoroughly analyze it. Grab a sheet of paper, draw a line down the middle and on one side and write down all the reasons why you should complete the job. On the other side, list all the reasons why you shouldn't do it. Write down everything you can think of and then compare the two lists. If the list for doing it is longer and stronger than the list for putting it off, this will give you the motivation to ignore your fear and start the task.

If it is a really disagreeable job and you can't find many reasons for doing it but it comes from your boss, do it straight away otherwise you might postpone it. Gritting your teeth, put your head down because by doing the job creates a less anxiety and stress than if you put it off.

Once you've practiced analyzing each situation, learn to study each challenge closely. When you know more about the challenge you are in a much better position to finish each job. A lack of knowledge and understanding will create fear and ultimately you will procrastinate.

The secret of getting rid of your fear is in greater understanding of the task at hand and the reasons for it. With a little bit of research you can overcome this particular source of procrastination and the solution lies in your hands.
